MOSCOW. Government financing provided for NGOs to carry out socially important projects will exceed RUR3.2bn ($95.6mn, or €72.6mn) this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the human rights council. Starting from 2014, allocations for grants to the NGOs that advocate human rights will total RUR500mn (around $15mn) annually, he added.

ASTANA. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium, which pumps oil exported from Kazakhstan and Russia, handled 21.7mn metric tons (159.5mn bbl) of crude from the Yuzhnaya Ozereika 2 sea terminal near Novorossiysk. In the same period of last year, the figure was 20.2mn metric tons (148.5mn bbl), the company said. In August 2013, the CPC discharged 2.9mn metric tons (21.3mn bbl), up from 2.439mn tons (17.9mn bbl) a year before.
