The government may freeze the wages of civil servants, the military, judges and prosecutors in 2014, Deputy Finance Minister Tatyana Nesterenko told journalists on Tuesday. “The main economic goal is to restrain spending,” she said. “In this respect, it has been decided to freeze natural monopolies’ rates and not to index wages of civil servants, the military, judges and prosecutors whose wages are set exclusively by the government and presidential decrees.”

MOSCOW. Russia’s AFK Sistema and Unirail Holdings plan to reorganise the SG-Trans rail firm by merging it with Financial Alliance, a parity venture between the two partners and the holder of 70% of SG-Trans. The issue will be discussed at an extraordinary meeting of SG-Trans shareholders on October 17, the company said. They will also consider changes in the SG-Trans charter concerning the number of its shares and augmenting its share capital. SG-Trans is the country’s largest operator of specialised railcars for transportation of liquefied petroleum gas. The merger completes the reorganisation of Sistema’s transportation assets under the SG-trans brand.
