MOSCOW. Russia and the European Union have coordinated a deal on the use of the OPAL pipeline running from Gazprom's Nord Stream across Germany to the Czech-German border.
The agreement is expected to be signed before the end of October, writes governmental Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
Gazprom is currently only allowed to use 50% of the 36 bcm (1.27 tcf) OPAL pipeline under the terms of the EU’s Third Energy Package, aimed to prevent companies that dominate supply from controlling transit networks.
Russia and Germany hope to ensure that Gazprom gains full access to the pipeline. |
