MOSCOW. Russia’s arms disposal programme for 2011-2015 and through 2020 has failed to meet any of its declared goals in the past two years, the Audit Chamber said in a statement.
The assignments for the disposal of weapons and military equipment were only fulfilled by 8.5% in the first two years of the programme, including 6.7% for munitions, 4.6% for army missiles and 6% for small arms cartridges, the report stated.
“None of the 599 airplanes and helicopters slated for disposal in 2011-2012 has been disposed,” the regulator said.
The Audit Chamber’s findings follow several criminal probes launched by the Investigative Committee into alleged corruption at Oboronservice, the Defence Ministry’s holding company dealing with the repair and maintenance of its assets, equipment and property. |
